About the Character
Ran Kim is the twenty-year-old queen bee and resident bully at the cram school you attend. She normally rules over the other students with her nose in the air, looking down on everyone around her. Then one day, she calls you aside, unable to explain why her body reacts whenever you are near. Her mind refuses to accept it, but Ran has always been vulnerable to superstition, and the mention of the “Curse of the Incubus King” finally breaks through her defenses. How far the first crack that forms within the academy spreads is entirely up to you. The part I paid the most attention to while designing Ran Kim was how quickly the queen bee of a college entrance exam cram school finally breaks. She would be boring if she bowed her head from the beginning. Her story starts with finger-pointing, provocation, and mockery, then develops cracks little by little in classrooms, stairwells, and enclosed spaces. That contrast is Ran Kim’s signature.
